Zoomers Sketching
Partly here & not: Marsha, Jane, Danita, Laura, Hugh, Barb So, Peggy, Daisy, & Bev. Not, but submitting sketches: Bitty, Rita, Sandy. We had a wide range of sketches, as usual, but now begins the 100 people sketches in August! Barb So started with a self image, then moved on to other folks, including the roofers! Bev dutifully sketched people, then got fascinated by local trees.
Bitty tried several approaches to sketching people (love the Olympic gestural studies!). Daisy is still doing “collections” of things, and here’s her collection of sketchbooks! First Danita’s landscape sketch of the golf course, then people sketches – her family! Hugh sketches people wherever he is, including looking at Adam Grosowky’s painting! Jane is getting a kick out of sketching photos taken by Italian friend Stefano Marcovaldi. Marsha did an in person sketch at the golf course, then a shot from tv – who is it? Then Marsha got brave to do a “Daisy” – standing up to sketch people she saw around her. Peggy’s honing her chops – from a landscape, to sketches of people in action! Rita is on a road trip, but sketching all the way – you go, girl! Sandy, like her husband Hugh, sketches people wherever she is – quite a diversity! -
Zoom meeting
Rita, Jane, Peggy, Marsha, Bev, Danita, Daisy, BarbSo, Hugh, & Bitty. Rita wanted to capture the whimsical nature of her poppies, and kept working at it until she reached the ultimate in essence! Jane started with head sketches, did two versions of her ginger (grocery bag, & Stilllman & Birn Nova paper), finally a people sketch from a photo. Peggy demonstrated what a difference a spot of color makes! Marsha found her paper rumpled with water on the first chair, so went back to plain ink on the second. Her quick guy sketch was on a handy pad of paper in her kitchen. Bev was aggravated by water rumpling paper, too, so back to Pitt markers, and then on to collage. So there! Danita & hubby have been exploring backwoods – from a long time burn, to Danita’s fascination with wooded paths. Daisy is seriously into collections of things – can you see a theme here? BarbSo started with a sweet sketch of her hosta, then branched out with people! Hugh used water soluble crayon for his lighthouse view, then back to water soluble inks to recapture a scene from the car, and from 5th St. Market. Bitty’s has gone from a focus on landscapes to capturing people in action, and then her favorite mimosa tree at her favorite coffee shop. -
Zoomers mugging it up
More (or less) present: Marsha, Jane, Peggy, BarbSo, Daisy, Bitty, Rita, & Bev.
Bev’s cat was taking over her sketches, until it came to her responding to Daisy’s “sketch all your mugs” idea – wowza!
Barb So is a cat lover, too – they even appear in her mugs!
Marsha’s love of her water soluble ink pen extends to mug sketches!
Jane’s careful attention to detail went wonky in her mug sketches (done on a coffee filter with fountain pen in about 5 minutes!).
Rita, just back from a family trip, scurried to join the mug challenge.
Daisy, who started the sketch-your-mugs, is on to more collections!
Peggy was too busy refining her sketch from Cortesia to do mugs.
And Bitty was in a land far far away, totally mugless.

Zoomers Meeting
And the beat goes on…Marsha, Jane, Peggy, Daisy, BarbSo, Sandy & Hugh, Bev. Rita & Bitty traveling but sketching, too!
Marsha loves doing b&w ink sketches, but her flower arrangement was so wonderful she just had to do it again in color!
You just never know what’s going to catch Jane’s sketching eye!
Peggy completed her sketch from Emerald Art Center by adding color to the paintings on the wall – gives them a nice pop!
Daisy claims this group “makes” her be creative every week, but wow! Teapots, and mugs, and neighborhood palm trees, & feathers!
Here is Barb So’s finished sketch from the art center, then a little meditative sketch, and finally a scene from her neighborhood.
Sandy’s “walking” sketches – her little sketchbook goes with her everywhere she goes, & captures what she sees!
Talk about diversity of subject & style! Hugh keeps pushing himself: water soluble inks & blending, Caran d’Ache crayons & blending!
Bev’s cat saves the day (& the sketch)! What delightful images.
This in from Rita on the road – the classic sketch of her art tools.
And this from Bitty at the beach – oh don’t you wish you were there!
